In a world of grown ups, being a child can be a lonely experience. For at risk, neglected young girls, their circumstances and isolation further burdens them with life-long negative consequences. We are providing them an opportunity to heal and belong.
K2 Adventures Foundation created this program in partnership with Envision Therapeutic Horsemanship, which provides us access to their facilities and certified instructors.
This one-of-a-kind ten-week program gives young girls, ages 13 to 16, the opportunity to participate in equine-assisted therapy. Participants get to interact with on-staff therapists who are specially trained in helping young girls who are abused and neglected. They get to learn how to interact and care for the horses and most importantly how to build a trusting relationship with their horse.
There is also a camaraderie benefit, as the girls get to bond with other participants throughout the duration of the ten-week program. Some of the many benefits of equine therapy include improved motor coordination, posture, balance, concentration, muscle tone, self-esteem and self-confidence.
K2 Therapeutic Horsemanship began in 2016 and is offered twice per year.
With your support, we can continue to give abused and neglected girls the opportunity to begin the healing process and and create long lasting bonds.
